Managers of medical institutions actively adjust development priorities and accelerate digital transformation to empower high-quality development of medical services

Shanghai, China - Today, on the occasion of the 5th Chinese Doctor's Day, Philips (China) released the 2022 China edition of the "Future Health Index Report: Response Bureau, Innovation Bureau - Medical and health leaders change according to needs, Embrace Industry Change." Since 2016, Philips has focused on the transformation of "health technology", and has carried out a "Future Health Index" survey around the world on the current situation and future of global health care for seven consecutive years. It is also one of the largest surveys of its kind in the world. This year, the report surveyed nearly 3,000 managers of hospitals and medical institutions in 15 countries and regions around the world, exploring the development issues that healthcare leaders are most concerned about in the context of the epidemic, and how they adjust the development priorities of hospitals and medical institutions. level, in order to respond to changing industry needs, and then open up a new picture of industry development.

Digital transformation accelerates again, and remote interconnection technology helps improve the accessibility of medical services

Under the epidemic, on the one hand, the demand for medical care has increased sharply, making the contradiction of shortage of resources more prominent, and at the same time accompanied by various uncertainties and obstacles. How to take into account the availability, quality and continuity of medical services while preventing and controlling the epidemic has brought greater challenges to the managers of Chinese hospitals and medical institutions. The report shows that China's medical and health leaders are actively exploring new ways of care, and are committed to breaking the "physical walls" of hospitals and breaking through barriers inside and outside the hospital. In the survey, more than a quarter (28%) of Chinese respondents regard the improvement of out-of-hospital care capacity as the top priority of the hospital's current development, in order to further broaden the boundaries of medical services and improve the accessibility of medical services.

To this end, Chinese medical and health leaders are increasing their investment in digital technologies such as telemedicine (58%) and remote monitoring (30%), and provide patients with services such as online diagnosis and treatment, follow-up, and home monitoring through digital means. At the same time, high-level care configuration will be brought to areas where medical resources are relatively scarce, helping local residents to obtain high-quality medical services nearby and conveniently.

Unlock the unlimited potential of data, and predictive analysis technology empowers health care to improve quality and efficiency

For Chinese healthcare leaders, the application of data-driven artificial intelligence and predictive analytics technology is also one of the key ways to improve the quality and efficiency of medical care and reduce costs. Nearly 90% of Chinese respondents (89%) said in the survey that they are currently vigorously promoting the application of artificial intelligence in clinical and hospital operation scenarios. At the same time, 78% of respondents said that their hospitals or medical institutions have adopted or plan to promote the application of predictive analytics technology. This percentage is higher than the global average (56%). Managers of Chinese medical institutions are optimistic about the application prospects of predictive analytics technology in the field of health care, believing that the technology can effectively improve the patient's medical experience (59%), and help optimize the effect of diagnosis and treatment (58%), reduce the cost of Reduce the cost of nursing care (57%), improve the working experience of medical staff (57%), and help the medical model to transform into a "value-based" model (50%).

Chinese healthcare leaders are already at the forefront of the world in the application and promotion of digital technologies such as predictive analytics and artificial intelligence. To further unlock the value of digital technologies, they are exploring ways to efficiently use data and unlock its potential. About one-third (33%) of Chinese respondents believe that performance tracking and evaluation and KPI design are the keys to data application efficiency. They believe that by tracking operational performance, data can be better used to make necessary improvements to internal processes and improve hospital operational efficiency.

Actively fulfill social responsibilities and promote the sustainable development of health care

Another notable highlight of this year's "Future Health Index" report is that China's healthcare leaders not only focus on improving medical service capabilities, but also look forward to taking on broader social responsibilities. About 28% of Chinese respondents clearly stated that they are actively promoting the implementation of social responsibilities in hospitals and medical institutions. Among them, promoting the homogenization of medical services is one of the most concerned issues, and 62% of Chinese respondents said they have formulated or implemented corresponding plans for this purpose. They expect to benefit a wider population by providing preventive care for vulnerable groups (67%), optimizing medical payment models (63%), promoting telemedicine (62%) and disease screening programs (59%). To higher quality health care and improve public health.

In recent years, Chinese medical and health leaders have also paid increasing attention to the sustainable development of the industry. According to the report, 23% of Chinese respondents have prioritized sustainable development in hospital operation and management, a proportion that has doubled compared to 2021 (9%) and is in line with the global average (24%). . It is expected that in the next three years, industry leaders will continue to pay attention to sustainable development. They are committed to taking practical actions to promote the development of the health care field in a greener and more sustainable direction, thereby contributing to the development of China's "double Contribute to the achievement of carbon" goals.

Kong Fa, Vice President of Philips Greater China, Head of Marketing and Medical Affairs, said: "In the past two years, the pressure on the health care industry has continued to intensify, and the recurrence of the new crown epidemic continues to bring challenges to the health care systems of various countries. 2022 The Chinese version of the "Future Health Index Report" depicts how China's medical and health leaders bravely shoulder heavy responsibilities in the face of the epidemic, quickly adjust hospital operation strategies to respond to changes and create a new picture of development, showing how industry leaders are facing the challenges of the epidemic. Perseverance, foresight and professionalism in embracing digital transformation, and humanistic care that actively undertakes social responsibilities. Although the impact of the epidemic is still ongoing, the future of the health care field is still full of infinite possibilities through the active transformation of industry leaders. In the future, Philips will also continue to adhere to the long-term commitment of 'in China, for China', focusing on the unmet clinical needs of the Chinese medical system, providing integrated localized solutions, and working with partners in the local ecosystem to jointly promote The high-quality development of China's health care industry will contribute to the realization of the 'Healthy China 2030' goal."
